 Temporary Medical Insurance

Temporary medical insurance works for anyone up to the age of 65.  It is smart to get this plan when you are dropped from your parents plan, just finished school, a seasonal employee, getting a new job, or if you just lost your job and current medical insurance.

Many companies have dropped their medical plans to save money and people can purchase temporary medical policies before they get something permanent.  Also, if you have retired and are not yet eligible for Medicare or looking for a cheaper plan than Cobra, this type of insurance policy would be a great option.

It is very easy to sign up for temporary insurance online and many insurance companies will let you apply for temporary medical insurance again after your first policy expires.  These types of policies can last from any number of days to months and can be paid for on a month-to-month basis.  This type of insurance is purchased to cover any unseen illnesses or injuries.

Keep in mind that temporary medical insurance policies may not provide sufficient coverage for routine care, eye exams, routine dental care or immunizations. But some do provide comprehensive coverage for these services, to be sure you know the benefits you’d like to have.

Temporary medical insurance policies usually includes services provided by doctors, prescriptions, X-rays, inpatient hospital stays and surgeries, outpatient surgeries, laboratory fees, nursing fees and rehabilitation needs.  Depending on the insurance company, this list may change.

As with any insurance policy, it is necessary to shop around for the best rates and services.  It is important to look for permanent insurance rates while you have temporary insurance or to look for jobs that will provide medical insurance for you.
